The local ATD (Association for Talent Development) is one organization I volunteer with. I am currently President of the Rocky Mountain chapter.
When I first began my transition to become an Instructional Designer, I decided that acquiring real-world knowledge about instructional design was very important to me. I joined the local ATD (Association for Talent Development) chapter and have been attending various events for the past few years. ATD membership consists of professionals from learning and development, corporate training, instructional design, human resources, DEI, and related fields.
This experience has been beneficial for my professional development because I have met many people in the industry and made many valuable connections. The guidance and insight from fellow ATD members have been beneficial.
When the opportunity became available I decided to join the board of the local chapter and am now in charge of monthly SIG (Special Interest Groups) meetings. The purpose of the SIG meeting is for ATD members and guests to network, learn from a guest speaker or presenter, and find out the latest as far as what is happening in the industry.
Next, I was President-Elect until July of 2023 when I took over the role of President.
I look forward to this opportunity to work with other amazing board members to continue to provide value to our members.
